Professor John Ikimalo Obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Benin in 1980. He had his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Port -Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) from 1984-1991. He obtained the FWACS in 1991 and was appointed a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt teaching hospital. He rose through the ranks to the position of Professor at the University of Port Harcourt and has been a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital since 1991. He was head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the UPTH from 2006 - 2009 and Dean of Medicine at the University of Port Harcourt from 2011 - 2013.
Professor John Ikimalo is also a diplomate in Reproductive Health from the University of Liverpool and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist and a fellow of Minimal Access Surgery. He had some clinical training in Assisted Reproductive Technology at the Groote Schuur Hospital Cape town, South Africa in 2002.
In 1992, he founded Prime Medical Consultants, a reputable private hospital complex in Port Harcourt and in 2003, he co- founded the Port Harcourt Fertility Centre, now Nisa@Prime Fertility Centre with Dr. Ibrahim Wada (OON) of Nisa Premier Hospital, Abuja.
